Revelation 14:18

And another angel came out from the altar, which had power over fire; and cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp sickle, saying, Thrust in thy sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe.

Cross-reference

In Revelation 14:15, a similar command is given to reap the grain harvest — here the vineyard harvest parallels that judgment scene.

Revelation 14:17 introduces the angel with the sickle — the one who is then commanded in 14:18 to reap the vine.

In Revelation 14:16, the grain harvest is executed — highlighting the parallel but distinct judgment of the vine that follows.

Revelation 6:10 records martyrs crying for judgment; in 14:18, an angel from that altar initiates the harvest judgment they requested.

In Revelation 6:9, martyrs' souls are under the altar — the same heavenly altar from which the angel with authority over fire comes in 14:18.

Revelation 16:1 also has a voice from the temple commanding angels to pour out God's wrath — similar pattern of divine command for judgment.

Joel 3:13 Allusion

Joel 3:13 is the prophetic source for this harvest judgment imagery — both grain and wine press, here applied to the vine.

Jeremiah 25:30 describes God shouting against the earth like those treading grapes — precursor to the winepress judgment that follows this verse.

Jeremiah 6:9 uses the same grape-gathering imagery for judgment on Israel — here applied to the whole earth's vine.
