Numbers 23:3

And Balaam said unto Balak, Stand by thy burnt offering, and I will go: peradventure the Lord will come to meet me: and whatsoever he sheweth me I will tell thee. And he went to an high place.

Cross-reference

Numbers 23:15 repeats this same instruction for the second oracle — Balaam goes to meet God while Balak stays by the burnt offering.

In Numbers 23:6, Balaam returns to Balak after meeting God — completing the action begun in this verse of going to seek Him.

Numbers 22:8 shows Balaam earlier telling the officials he will speak only what God tells him — the same pattern of seeking divine revelation before acting.

Numbers 22:9 records God coming to Balaam previously; here Balaam hopes for a similar divine encounter, continuing his reliance on God's word.

Numbers 24:1 shows Balaam later ceasing to seek omens — a direct contrast to his practice here of going to a bare height to meet God.
