Matthew 27:28-30 describes the same event: soldiers put a scarlet robe and crown of thorns on Jesus, mocking him as king.

John 19:2-5 records the same crown of thorns and purple robe, with Pilate presenting Jesus as 'the man'.

Luke 18:32 predicts the Gentiles will mock Jesus; here that prediction is fulfilled.
