And Isaac digged again the wells of water, which they had digged in the days of Abraham his father; for the Philistines had stopped them after the death of Abraham: and he called their names after the names by which his father had called them.

Genesis 21:31 records the original naming of Beersheba by Abraham. Isaac's reopening of these same wells shows him reclaiming and continuing his father's legacy in the land.

2 Chronicles 26:10 credits King Uzziah with digging many wells for livestock. This provides a later example of the same practical activity of securing water sources in the land.
