Genesis 1:7 describes God making the expanse (firmament). These luminaries are then placed in that same expanse — the sequential creation narrative links the space to its occupants.

Psalm 19:1 declares the heavens tell of God's glory — the very purpose these lights were set in place: to illuminate and display God's handiwork above the earth.

2 Corinthians 4:6 echoes this creation command — 'Let light shine out of darkness' — applying God's original creative act to the spiritual light of knowing Christ.

James 1:17 calls God the 'Father of lights' who doesn't shift like shadows. The celestial lights created here are the backdrop — God made them, yet He Himself never varies.
