Ecclesiastes 1:9

The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.

Cross-reference

In Ecclesiastes 7:10, the author applies this reasoning: longing for the 'good old days' is foolish because nothing truly changes.

Ecclesiastes 6:10 restates the idea: everything that exists has already been determined, reinforcing the 'nothing new' theme.

In Isaiah 43:19, God declares He is doing a new thing — a direct contrast to the claim that there is nothing new under the sun.
