Acts 27:18 also describes lightening the ship by throwing cargo overboard—same action earlier in the storm sequence.

Acts 27:19 records casting out the ship's tackle; here they later throw out the wheat—both jettisoning to lighten the ship.

Jonah 1:5 has sailors jettison cargo to lighten the ship in a storm—nearly identical situation to this verse.
